Luís Filipe Madeira Caeiro Figo was born in Almada, Portugal on November 4, 1972.
Figo started his youth career with União de Pastilhas and then Sporting CP till 1989 where he started his senior
career with the same club for 6 years, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid C.F. 5 years each and F.C. Internazionale Milano
till now.
He began his international career with the national team in 1991.
He captained his national team squad during the 2006 World Cup and leading them to the semi-finals where they were out
which was the furthest Portugal had reached in the tournament since 1966.
Figo deserved to be named as FIFA World Player of the Year considering his contributions with Real Madrid C.F.
winning Champions League trophy.
