The plot of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is quite straight forward, yet the further into the movie, the more complicated it becomes. In the simplest terms, the plot revolves around Joel, who has just found out that his ex-girlfriend Clementine, underwent a procedure to erase all memories of
him form her brain. Filled with the pain of their breakup, he decides to do the same.
However, it is when the procedure is in process and he is experiencing all of their memories for the last
time, that he realizes that he truly loves her.
The film surrounds Joel fighting against the procedure to
keep the memories, before he doesn’t remember a thing about her.
This movie tends to be an acquired taste. Either you absolutely love it, or think it is the craziest thing in existence and hate it. I happen to be in the category of LOVING it! The creative story idea and the eccentric characters makes for quite an original film. The many different settings of the film are very intriguing, and create artwork on your TV screen.
